Detailed Itinerary (Ex-Mumbai)
8th Aug 2019 (Thursday)
DAY 1: Departure from Mumbai in train
Our first day would be spent travelling in train and catching up with old and new buddies. Train journeys are meant to be a lot of fun!
9th Aug 2019 (Friday)
DAY 2: Arrival in Haridwar and transfer to Rishikesh (372m/1220ft)
By noon, we would have made it to Haridwar. After lunch, we shall proceed to Rishikesh by bus/taxi. Here, the Ex-Rishikesh participants would be uniting with the group. Today, we will have an early dinner and hit the bed early so that we can enjoy the long and beautiful journey that awaits us next day.
10th Aug 2019 (Saturday)
DAY 3: 0530 hrs: Transfer from Rishikesh to Govindghat (1800m/5900ft)
Early start to the day as we need to reach our base Govindghat before sunset. The road winds its way up and around the mountains with River Alaknanda flowing parallel to it throughout. On the way, we shall halt for breakfast and lunch and also pass by the 5 prayags (confluence of two rivers). If time and situation permits, we will hop out to take some pictures en route. Dinner and Overnight stay at hotel in Govindghat.
11th Aug 2019 (Sunday)
DAY 4: Drive to Pulna and trek to Ghangharia (3050m/10000ft)
After
breakfast, we would drive to Pulna village wherefrom starts our actual trek. Today’s
trail is a proper pathway and we might come across many pilgrims. Major portion
of today’s trail lies alongside the river and we would be blessed to have an
amazing view of Hathi Peak. There would be numerous
snack stalls along the path where we can enjoy a cup of tea perhaps and refill our water bottles. Dinner and Overnight stay at hotel in Ghangharia.

DAY 5: Trek to Valley Of Flowers (3600m/11800ft)
Finally, the day has arrived when we would actually be entering the Valley. The forest entry check post finds us after a 30 min walk from Ghangharia, after which we enter a whole new world. River Pushpavati flows through the heart of the valley and the numerous flowers bring life to the valley surrounded by snow capped peaks of the Himalaya. We shall relish each moment spent in the beautiful valley and capture them in our eyes and minds forever. We exit the park before the gates shut as we are not allowed to camp inside and return to Ghangharia for dinner and night halt.

DAY 6: Trek to Hemkund Sahib (4330m/14200ft)
Tuesday brings us a new challenge in the form of a steep climb to the sacred shrine of Shri Hemkund Sahib. The Gurudwara is surrounded by seven peaks and a beautiful tarn. We would be gaining an altitude of about 4000ft. The air becomes thinner as we go higher so we need to be steady in taking each step. We would be having our lunch in the langar at the Gurudwara. Nearby also lies the Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Laxman. Chances are high that you may get to see Bhramakamal flowers around the shrine. We descend in time to reach Ghangharia before it gets dark, have our dinner and retire for the day.
14th Aug 2019 (Wednesday)
DAY 7: Descend Trek to Pulna and drive to Govindghat.
Optional visit to Badrinath & Mana
Having experienced all that we had planned to see and cherish, we would now descend down to Pulna with a satisfied mind and a refreshed soul. We would reach Govindghat around lunchtime and relax for the day. If weather and road conditions permit, then we shall be paying a visit to Badrinath and Mana village. Overnight stay in hotel/guesthouse.
